ABSTRACT

Vaccinations are one of the most important preventive tools against infectious diseases. Over time, many different types of vaccines have been developed concerning the antigen component. Adjuvants are essential elements that increase the efficacy of vaccination practises through many different actions, especially acting as carriers, depots, and stimulators of immune responses. For many years, few adjuvants have been included in vaccines, with aluminium salts being the most commonly used adjuvant. However, recent research has focused its attention on many different new compounds with effective adjuvant properties and improved safety. Modern technologies such as nanotechnologies and molecular biology have forcefully entered the production processes of both antigen and adjuvant components, thereby improving vaccine efficacy. Microparticles, emulsions, and immune stimulators are currently in the spotlight for their huge potential in vaccine production. Although studies have reported some potential side effects of vaccine adjuvants such as the recently recognised ASIA syndrome, the huge worth of vaccines remains unquestionable. Indeed, the recent COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of vaccines, especially in regard to managing future potential pandemics. In this field, research into adjuvants could play a leading role in the production of increasingly effective vaccines.

ABSTRACT

Real estate brokerage is the activity of matching parties to a real estate transaction. Due to the increasing ease of access to offers posted by sellers and landlords, various challenges in finding solutions that will attract potential customers have appeared before real estate brokers. Given the complexity of the processes in which brokers can participate, the use of modern technologies in real estate brokerage seems to be one way of maintaining and developing the broker industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant changes in the way brokers operate, forcing them to implement or accelerate the use of modern technologies in customer service. Therefore, the main goal of this article is an attempt to diagnose the use of modern technologies and the types of technologies used in customer service by real estate brokers as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was conducted in the form of a survey among representatives of the real estate brokerage industry. The answers obtained from the respondents have allowed us to state that real estate agencies use new technologies to a large extent. Over 40% of the interviewees stated that the real estate market has enormous potential for the application of modern technologies. Furthermore, over 70% of the respondents indicated a large or rather large impact of the COVID-19 on the application of modern technologies in the real estate industry. The restrictions related to the epidemic have forced companies to use modern technologies to replace direct contact between the seller and the customer. The research was conducted among real estate brokers in the period between June and October 2020.

ABSTRACT

Within the span of the past two years, modern technologies have induced major changes in education. It is primarily the Covid-19 pandemic that has altered the way of foreign language instruction. Therefore, this paper attempts to investigate the perceptions and attitudes of Slovak university EFL learners towards online English language learning. Altogether 188 participants completed a survey, indicating their level of agreement on a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. The research results indicate that the students either agree or are neutral to the majority of statements involving their conditions for online learning and developing particular language skills and systems. However, it should be also emphasized that some challenges of online learning, such as visiting social networking sites or chatting with peers for non-academic purposes, were also detected to some degree. It is necessary to conduct further studies in this area so that the teaching and learning process is facilitated and ultimately becomes more effective © 2022. ABSTRACT

The involuntary shutdown at universities during the COVID-19 pandemic and the impossibility of full-time teaching forced university teachers to look for other ways of communication strategies through Internet platforms with students and in everyday academic activities. The aim of this study is to reveal the attitudes and perception of university teachers in the field of Media and Communication Studies in Slovakia during two years of online home learning (2020 and 2021) when the first two waves of the COVID-19 pandemic took place. The aim was to show changes in the perception of the situation in terms of existing positives and negatives during this period as well as to point out a possible trend in the communication strategies used to ensure the sustainability of the education system. Due to the lockdown, the survey was only conducted in electronic format using online questionnaires. The participants were university teachers from the field of Media and Communication Studies. As this is a progressive field the study of which is carried out at the intersection of the interests of several scientific disciplines, it can be assumed that the conclusions can easily be transferred to social, economic, humanities and arts disciplines. When communicating and teaching students in 2020 and also in 2021, online teaching through systems such as Zoom or Google Meet and individual consultations by e-mail, chat and social networks dominated. As the results of the study indicate, modern online technologies contribute to the sustainability of the educational process during an emergency and will become an integral part of university education even after the end of the pandemic situation.

ABSTRACT

Starting from winter 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has introduced many challenges in all areas of human life in many countries. It also disrupted the usual functioning of educational institutions, generating an educational emergency where necessary changes needed to be introduced to continue the learning process. While distance learning as a field existed long before the advent of modern technologies, it has never been adopted on such a huge scale. On the one hand, it ensured access to education;on the other, it may have posed further challenges on students’ lives and affected their sense of isolation. The current paper is an attempt to understand university students’ Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) experiences: their perceptions of such a large-scale change in their lives, the change in their study modes and methods, and the factors associated with students’ appreciation of ERT. The results indicate that the students valued quite highly the ERT experience. Furthermore, it also partly allowed them to cope with the pandemic stress. ERT was especially effective when characterized by good organization of online lessons and interaction with teachers, while the synchronous or asynchronous modality of teaching didn’t appear to play a significant role in students’ appreciation. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 has not only affected people's normal life, but also brought certain impact on logistics. People's demand for agricultural products suddenly increased in a short time, and agricultural products logistics didn't have time to respond. Many new problems have been exposed, because there are many intermediate links in agricultural products logistics, so on the basis of higher logistics cost, it also increases the problem that logistics cannot guarantee timely supply. In addition, the price of agricultural products is low, and the cost of advanced technology is high, so it is impossible to use modern technology to trace the source of agricultural products. During the epidemic period, because the severity of the epidemic varies from place to place, it is particularly important to trace the source of products;at the same time, due to the sudden outbreak of the epidemic, it also brought challenges to emergency logistics, and the response of emergency logistics in various places was slow. However, the epidemic has brought difficulties to logistics and also created opportunities for the development of smart logistics. In order to avoid human contact, information registration systems have been adopted in various places, and unmanned driving, automatic warehousing, automatic distribution and logistics robots have been put into use, which has promoted the sharing of information by smart logistics using the Internet and the intelligentization of logistics operation process. © 2021 IEEE
